Introducing Pastor Eddie Ledesma & Family-

After a year-long process filled with prayer and discernment, on Sunday, May 24th, the New Hope Church Community unanimously affirmed Pastor Eddie Ledesma, as its new Pastor. Please continue to pray for the New Hope Community and the Ledesma Family as we move together through this God-led journey beginning July 2015.

From Pastor Eddie-
My faith journey began as a child when I received Christ as Lord and Savior in 1976 while attending a healing service. Many in my family were saved as a result of the Kathryn Kuhlman’s Crusades at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles. I was baptized at the age of 12 and felt a strong calling on my life at that time. In high school I served as the campus leader of a Christian club and youth leader in a church plant my mother founded in Los Angeles.

At the age of 18 I enlisted in the Army Reserve as a Chaplain Assistant while attending Bible College. I conducted Basic Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey where I was able to visit New York City for the first time! Overall, the army was a positive experience for me that stretched me in many new ways. I was asked to give monthly religious services for my unit (4073rdReception Station, Lafayette, Louisiana) every month for four years where I was able to preach to 300 military personnel every Sunday while I was in Bible College.

During Operation Desert Storm I was mobilized for active duty and required to withdraw from Bible College and report for full-time military service. I was assigned to a Family Support Center where I ministered to families and the children of parents who were overseas in Iraq and Kuwait. At the conclusion of Operation Desert Storm I was able to re-enroll in Bible College. I was a changed person after that experience, some of my friends had moved on and I felt I had emotionally matured. Nearing graduation from Bible College I was engaged to Dawn and was looking forward to married life with her. Dawn and I both attained our degrees in World Missions and felt God leading us to begin serving in full-time ministry, beginning in 1992.

Since then, my wife and I have been in full-time ministry and married for 23 years! Dawn is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and serves as the Clinical Director with Crittenton Family Services in Norwalk. For the past 5 years I have been involved in church-planting, mission work in Chiapas, Mexico and Baja Califonia. I also serve on the board of directors and teach at Centro Hispano Estudios Teologicos, or C.H.E.T. a Bible Institute in Compton with an enrollment of over 600 students. Dawn and I have two daughters, Rachel (14) and Ruby (10).

The family and I are very excited to accept the call to be a part of the New Hope Church family and Community. From the initial conversations to the most recent vision meetings and gatherings we have come to understand that God has been orchestrating this whole “calling” process in various ways. We are ready to form new lasting friendships with the New Hope Community and journey together as God moves in Sunland-Tujunga foothill communities.
